Introduction to SmartTagging
SmartTag is Smartvid.io’s internal engine, and the core of its functionality.
The SmartTag algorithm looks at & listens to the media your team uploads, then places tags on pictures and video frames. SmartTag is trained to recognize essentially any words in speech, as well as thousands of visual object categories, so the tags it places are constrained by what you tell it is valuable to you. Here's what that means: say you need to find the last time a crane was on a construction project to verify a bill. If you tell SmartTag to use the tag ‘crane,’ it will-
- add the “crane” tag to any images with cranes;
- tag video frames where the word "crane" is spoken in the accompanying audio.
This example shows the single most important thing you need to use Smartvid.io effectively: the power of SmartTag lies in its ability to be trained by you.
Once your content is tagged, you can search it, share specific tags and comments with other project members, create links to share highly flexible “slices” of your content library, and much more. As your needs and priorities change, you can create new tags and find them in your existing database with the click of a mouse.
Like any machine or human, SmartTag isn’t perfect. It needs some initial feedback from you to refine its tagging behavior, so you’ll have the option to verify and reject tags as you go along. But the more feedback you give it at the start, the faster it learns what you’re looking for. You’ll quickly see it start to blend into your workflow, improving efficiency and giving back your team's human effort and time.
